Because drugs are used to cover up more serious problems.
Recently, there is a video that everyone should have seen. According to the record of a Chinese blogger, in Philadelphia, the fifth largest city in the United States, the streets are full of drug addicts, and “zombies” staggering everywhere. It’s like a real-life remake of the “Resident Evil” movie. After seeing this scene, many people are analyzing the reasons behind it, but few can get to the root of the problem. Today, I will spend a few minutes talking about this matter.
First of all, the drug abuse is not just a problem in Philadelphia, the United States. Now the whole of the United States is rapidly turning into the global “flour consumption center”, and it has become an established fact that the whole nation is getting high. If you don’t believe it, let’s look at the data. By 2023, the total number of drug users in the United States has exceeded 35 million, which is almost the total population of Ukraine. In the United States, roughly one out of every nine people is a drug addict.
Even more terrifying is that drugs are spreading among American teenagers. 12% of American teenagers aged 13-14 have used marijuana, 28% of the 16-17-year-old group are drug users, and the proportion among the 18-19-year-old group has reached an astonishing 36%. It is no exaggeration to say that if you don’t use drugs in American schools, you may be bullied on campus for being out of place.
The current situation in the United States is a complete reproduction of the scene on the eve of the “Opium War” in the late Qing Dynasty. Just as crazy as the drug addicts in the Qing Dynasty, American teenagers are just as crazy now.
So many people always ask me where the future of the United States lies. To be honest, for such a country, do you think it still has a future?
I know some people will say that since you know that drug abuse will affect the state system, don’t the Americans know it? Why don’t they carry out a full-scale anti-drug campaign? Some say it’s because American politicians are seeking their own interests, and some say it’s because the capital groups behind want to make money. That’s right, these are all very important reasons, but they still haven’t touched the core of the problem. I can tell you directly that the only core reason why the Americans don’t carry out a full-scale anti-drug campaign is that they don’t have the ability!
Don’t rush to refute. Let me ask you a question first. Why is drug use widespread in the United States?
An important reason is the war.
Many people nowadays haven’t experienced a real war. They think it’s just missiles being fired at each other, shelling the ground, and robots leading the way. If you look at the real videos of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, you’ll understand. In a real battlefield, there are landmines at any time. One second your comrade-in-arms is smiling and joking with you, and the next second he turns into a mass of flesh. In such an environment, people’s spirits are highly tense. Without a certain amount of willpower, you will collapse mentally in at most three days. So, in order to improve the combat capabilities of soldiers, during the two World Wars, a large number of European and American countries provided soldiers with morphine. What does this thing do? Those who have played “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” know about adrenaline. You inject it when you’re injured, and immediately the pain is relieved and you become energetic. Morphine can play this role of relieving pain and calming down.
In addition to morphine, there is also amphetamine. If you look it up, you’ll know that it is a metabolite of the virus. After using it, it can refresh you and increase your willpower. But the side effects are that it can cause some hallucinations and mental problems. That’s one of the reasons why the military discipline of the US and Japanese troops during World War II was so poor.
Once you understand this, you’ll know why the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army is known as the peak of individual combat power in light infantry. Because the Allied forces of Europe and America, relying on drugs, still couldn’t compete with the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army. This iron-like will has exceeded the cognitive limit of Western countries.
Later, during the Vietnam War, the Americans were still the same. They continuously transported morphine and heroin to the front line by military aircraft. With the support of these drugs, American soldiers held on for about 20 years. After the Vietnam War ended, hundreds of thousands, even millions of American soldiers returned to the United States. Just think about the situation they faced:
First, their wives had already left.
Second, the demobilization allowances given by the US government were not enough.
Third, some of them were disabled due to the war and couldn’t find jobs.
Fourth, they had been using drugs for a long time during the war and had become addicted.
In addition, these soldiers were extremely powerful in combat, and ordinary people couldn’t get close to them at all. So, what would such a group of people do after they flowed into American society? Everyone has seen the movie “First Blood”, right? What kind of combat power does Sylvester Stallone have in it? Although the movie has some exaggerated elements, a group of powerful and unstable elements really make the US government very headache. So, there is no other way but to let them use drugs, so that at least the society can maintain basic stability.
This is a very important root problem for the legalization of marijuana in the United States. It’s because there is a large group of demobilized soldiers in the United States who can’t be resettled, so they have to make policy compromises. And as we all know, the United States has been involved in continuous wars, such as the Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, etc. Every year, a large number of demobilized soldiers are produced. Over time, a very large group with a demand for drugs has emerged. Since these people can’t be dealt with, they can only be allowed to indulge in the hallucinations of drugs, and then it spreads to the civilian population step by step, leading to the crazy situation where 35 million Americans are using drugs nowadays.
I know some people will say that it’s because the Americans don’t want to solve the problem at its root. If they arrest all the Mexican drug dealers, I don’t believe they can’t solve the drug problem.
First of all, as I said before, the root cause of drug abuse in the United States is not that the source of drugs can’t be restricted, but that a large number of American veterans have this need. If you don’t let them use drugs, greater problems will arise.
And contrary to what many people think, the United States actually has a very strong anti-drug effort. Although it can’t compare with ours, it is also very powerful globally. Since the 1970s, the United States has been waging a war on drugs. From the deserts of Mexico to the rainforests of Colombia, DEA agents in the United States have been fighting hand-to-hand with various drug dealers. A large number of drug-making factories, warehouses, and poppy plantations have been destroyed, and a large number of drug lords have been arrested. It’s no exaggeration to say that the United States is almost sending its army to level Mexico, but the drug problem still can’t be solved.
Why does this happen?
The reason is very simple. Why do so many people in Mexico grow drugs? Because they have no other way to make a living, and this is the only way for them to survive. That’s right, American agents are very powerful and can wipe them out in one fell swoop. But after the American agents leave, in at most three months, an entire drug industry chain will be rebuilt. This is a typical case of “the wildfire can’t burn it all, and the spring breeze will make it grow again.” With the national system of the United States, it is indeed very difficult to completely solve this problem.
I know some people will ask again, then why can we carry out a comprehensive anti-drug campaign?
One is the historical reason. Those who have studied modern history know that China’s decline is closely related to drug abuse. China’s century-old national humiliation originated from the famous “Opium War”. For us Chinese, drugs are the source of all evils that can destroy families. So in our country, there is almost zero tolerance for drugs. Once discovered, we will completely root them out. This has become a national consensus, so that even the craziest drug dealers in the world regard China as an absolute forbidden zone.
The second is the far-sightedness of our first generation of founders.
Do you know how many people were using drugs when New China was just founded? The answer is 20 million people. At that time, there was a saying in Wuhan:
With a opium pipe in hand, it can break up families, without the sound of gunshots shaking the sky.
With half a copper lamp, it can burn up fields, houses and corridors, without the sight of flames soaring into the sky.
This saying describes the harm of drug use. People become emaciated, sell their wives and children, and their families are destroyed, which was a very common thing at that time.
So how did Chairman Mao solve this problem?
First, all drug plantations were eradicated to prevent people from growing drugs and cut off the source.
Then, drugs were confiscated, and economic compensation was given. According to statistics, in order to confiscate drugs, rescue special groups, and develop antidrugs, the state spent nearly 40 billion. This was 40 billion 70 years ago! It can be seen that the state went to great lengths to fight against drugs.
Subsequently, the drug trade network was cut off. Hundreds of thousands of public security police officers and millions of People’s Liberation Army soldiers cooperated to wipe out a large number of drug dealers and bandits, and cracked 8,156 drug cases. This is the use of national power to completely root out the problem.
Finally, popular science and publicity were carried out to tell the people about the harm of drug use.
Through these four-pronged approaches, we basically won the war on drugs in three years.
And do you think it’s over? To truly solve the drug problem at its root, it can’t be accomplished just by prohibition and cracking down. Why does the state vigorously carry out poverty alleviation across the country? It’s because for human beings, as long as they have a way to make a living, they won’t easily engage in the drug business, because the risk is too high. Many people who grow drugs are forced to take risks because they have no other choice.
So, to solve the problem at its root, we must solve the survival problem of the general public. Whether it’s the poverty alleviation work or the establishment of a modern industrial system, one of the important purposes is to let the common people find new ways out. If you don’t believe it, look at the hundreds of millions of people in Chinese factories. If they don’t have this employment opportunity, what do you think they will do?
Why have the drug dealers on the China-Myanmar border disappeared in recent years? An important reason is that while carrying out anti-drug work, our country has also brought industries there. The local people can make money by growing rubber, sugarcane and other crops, so they naturally give up their old business.
After reading all this, you’ll understand why the Americans can’t solve the drug problem at its root. One is that their government and capital groups may not want to solve this problem at all. For example, the mayor of Lancaster City in the United States recently made a shocking statement. He said that fentanyl drugs should be given for free to the homeless in the city, as much as they want, so as to achieve the purpose of population elimination.
Look at the statements of these American politicians. They only care about their personal interests and don’t consider the lives of the people at the bottom at all.
From another perspective, the Americans don’t have the ability to solve this problem either. With 35 million drug users, millions of homeless people, and tens of millions of people involved in the drug industry chain in Mexico, can the Americans carry out a national poverty alleviation for them? Can they also let them find jobs in factories? If not, the ending is doomed to be “the wildfire can’t burn it all, and the spring breeze will make it grow again.”
So don’t take the comprehensive anti-drug campaign in our country for granted. It requires a great political party to lead 1.4 billion people, thousands of national departments, and spend more than 70 years to complete great projects such as building the entire industry, implementing universal compulsory education, and carrying out national poverty alleviation. Only in this way is it possible to solve the drug problem at its root. In short, only a great country can achieve this.
