The answer is simple: if China were to attack India, it would essentially help India complete its social transformation. The internal contradictions within this country far outweigh external threats, which is why it occasionally provokes conflicts.
However, the elite class within India is both arrogant and complacent – they dare not engage in all-out war, but often act impulsively. India’s greatest threat is not from outside forces, but from its own political and economic elite. These “quislings” cultivated by the British treat their own country like a colony, and they are the biggest obstacle to social change in India. Social transformation requires momentum – who is willing to change unless driven to the brink? China only made up its mind for radical change when it was on the verge of national subjugation and racial extinction, let alone India.
If China were to launch a large-scale war against India, regardless of victory or defeat, it would boost internal cohesion and unity in India. This would make the Indian people aware of the decadence of the upper class and thereby push forward social transformation.
This was actually part of Nehru’s calculation back then – unfortunately, he encountered Mao Zedong and others, who gave India a crushing defeat and then withdrew, leaving India to clean up the mess. As a result, Nehru died in depression. The correct approach is to wait for India’s own contradictions to intensify while accelerating domestic productivity development and industrial upgrading.
With a huge population that it can’t feed, if India misses out on industrial upgrading and new productivity transformations, it will be eliminated in this round of productivity changes – an impact that could last for hundreds of years. Therefore, there’s no need to attack India.
By developing ourselves well and taking the path that India could have taken first, India’s elite will naturally lead the country to miss out on productivity transformations.
With such a large population and its upper limits sealed, it’s only a matter of time before India implodes. Those arrogant elites in India, although annoying, are actually very “useful” – they will lead the country into an abyss.
